It is important to read to your child every night, and have them read appropriate books to you. Reading daily will help them build decoding and comprehension skills.
Fiction Questions: (Books made up by the author.) Characters: Who was the story mostly about? What can you tell me about the characters? What were the characters like? Setting: Where did the story take place? When did the story take place? Main events: What happened in this story? What were the most important things that happened in the story? Use lots of details! Problem & Solution: What was the main problem in the story? How was the problem solved? Lesson/Message of the Story: What do you think the characters learned from the story? What does this story teach us? Connections: Does this book remind you of another book? Something that happened to you? Something else you have seen? What does it remind you of? How does it remind you of another story? Non-Fiction Questions: (Books based on real things, people, events, and places.) Topic: What was the story mostly about? Details: What does it tell us about the topic? What do you remember about the topic? Key Points: What are the most important things to remember about the topic? Connections: What does this story make you think about? What else do you know about the topic? |
